Can you believe it?? More sunshine!

Bring out the sunglasses again today, as it is going to be another gorgeous afternoon! What do I mean by gorgeous? Well think clear, blue skies, bright sunshine, and a high temperature of about 73°.

Hurricane Ida has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression after making landfall on Nicaragua yesterday and she is passing over the Honduras border this morning. Ida has stayed to the east of the high, mountainous terrain that would have torn Ida to shreds, and therefore she will most likely maintain her composure as she heads back into the warm Caribbean waters late tonight.

The official forecast at this time is calling for Ida to regain some strength but not become a hurricane again as she moves northward into the Gulf of Mexico. The current forecast keeps Ida far enough east to miss the Yucatan Peninsula for the most part, allowing her to maintain strength. Although the current forecast is pushing Ida straight up into the Gulf and into the south Alabama/Florida panhandle area, a deep trough and subsequent cold front moving through early next week could divert the storm further east of our area. We will be keeping a close eye on Ida and have all your latest updates on CBS 8 This Morning, Noon, 5, 6, and 10pm. If Ida becomes more of a threat early next week, you can count on the First Alert Weather Network to have updates around the clock on CBS 8.

Until then, enjoy the weekend! It looks like a beautiful one with tons of sunshine and very warm temperatures!

From an earlier post...
El Niño will persist this fall and winter, but what exactly does that mean for Alabama?  El Niño and La Niña are phenomenon that occur in changing temperatures of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of South America.  In reality, something that far away does affect us here in the Southeast.  Expect a slightly wetter Fall and Winter, and also a cooler than normal next couple of months.  Severe weather in November and December will be likely, and the First Alert Weather Network Team of meteorologists will watch the skies so you don't have to....all you have to do is stay with CBS 8 for all of your weather needs!
