Matt Tanner is the weekend meteorologist for the CBS 8 First Alert Weather Network. He joined CBS 8 in July 2008 after working weekends for WTXL, the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida. Before that, he co-produced and anchored 4FSU Weather, a student-run weather program at Florida State, that aired five days a week.
Matt was born and raised in Kennesaw, Georgia, and that's where the majority of his family and friends still live.
Matt received his B.S. in Meteorology from Florida State University, where he also graduated with a minor in Spanish and Mathematics.
His love of storms and hurricanes drove him into the weather world, and with the help of friends and family, he decided to pursue a career where he could talk about the weather every single day, and when need be, help people stay safe from incoming storms. He welcomes any comments or suggestions viewers might have, and enjoys school talks, presentations, and meeting new people.
Matt and his wife Ashley live in Montgomery and have been happily married since January 2009, living with a pet bunny and Beagle puppy.
